Custom dining chairs Ponchatoula craftsman Cliff Trahan builds are made to be sat in hard, every day, for decades. A chair is one of the most structurally demanding pieces in any shop — every joint is under constant shifting load, and most production chairs show it within a few years. Cliff’s chairs don’t.
Every connection is mortise-and-tenon joinery, fitted by hand. The stock is reclaimed old-growth hardwood — denser and more dimensionally stable than anything available at a lumber yard today. The result is a chair that holds its form and finish through daily use without loosening or racking. No veneers. Solid wood throughout.
Custom dining chairs Ponchatoula clients order are sized to pair with your table — seat height, back height, and overall scale all calculated to the piece they’ll sit beside. Built to the same structural standard as every other piece in the shop. Learn more about Louisiana woodworking traditions through the St. Tammany Woodworkers Guild.
